The West Visayas State University College of Medicine focus on providing the best educational experience is reflected on its roster of faculty staff.  It consists of educators committed to shaping and educating the next generation of healthcare professionals. It seeks to deliver effective programs that develop and nurture the diverse students as leaders in clinical care, medical education, and research

It comprises of 63 full time (including 20 Medical Specialists) and 21 part time (including 17 Medical Specialists) faculty members and over 170 professorial lecturers.  The new Dean, Dr. Jose Nemesio A. Granada was installed last July 17, 2017. The former Dean, Dr. Joselito F. Villaruz, is on his second term as President of the Association of Philippine Medical Colleges and also serves as a member of the Technical Panel for Medical Education of the Commission on Higher Education.  Another faculty is the Vice President for Medical and Allied Sciences of the University. Several of them are officers of specialty/subspecialty societies and examiner of specialty boards. Fourteen (14) faculty obtained Post-Doctoral degrees: 6 Masters in Management, 1 PhD in Education Management, 1 PhD in Management, 1 Master in Health Professional Education, 1 Master in Biochemistry, 1 Master in Pharmacology, 1 master in Public Health, 1 Master in Public Governance, and 1 Graduate Certificate in Palliative Care. Two faculty staff has Bachelor of Laws degree.

The community exposure and extension programs provide opportunities for the faculty to establish linkages.

During the College of Medicine 40th Anniversary in July 2015, the following faculty members received the Outstanding Alumni Awards in Academe: Dr. Henrietta C. Espanola, Dr. Giovanni A. De Los Reyes, Dr. Jose Nemesio A. Granada and Dr. Joselito F. Villaruz. Likewise, Dr. Japhet G. Fernandez De Leon and Dr. Patricio P. Palmes received the Outstanding Alumni Awards in Clinical Practice while Dr. Jubal G. Abellar was one of the awardees for Community Service. Dr. Melanie A. Tendencia was the recipient of the Most Outstanding Physician Award during the 109th Philippine Medical Association Convention in May 2016. Moreover, Dr. Joselito F. Villaruz was  the Outstanding Professional Awardee in the field of Education given by the University of the Philippines Visayas last August  27, 2017.

Faculty career development programs that promote, value and advance the educational mission of the College of Medicine are conducted regularly. Excellent resource persons hold educational workshops on various medical and biomedical education topics. These include topics such as clinical teaching strategies, teaching in the laboratory, teaching procedure skills, promoting professionalism in trainees, etc.   A mentoring workshop for the faculty was conducted last July 24, 2017.

Two departments have faculty members with completed researches while two departments have on-going researches.
