Reader Services

READERS SERVICES

Every student is provided with a library card bearing the assigned number. The data included in the card are: student’s name, address, ID number, college/course and year, and a validation table.  During the    student’s first entry at the university, he is given a library card after filling up an application form and submitting two identical 1X1 photos.  One of the photographs is attached on the student’s information sheet while the other is placed on his library card.  The student uses the same library card until he graduates.

The library card is a passport to avail of library services in whatever section or whatever collection, book or periodical/journal, the student intends to use.  Upon entry to the library and to the different sections, the library user presents his library card.  He has to deposit his card with the librarian in the charging desk if he intends to borrow and/or take out a book.  However, if he will just read the collection within the confines of the library the library card is returned after he avails the circulation service.

At the end of the term, library clearances are issued to students    upon surrendering their library cards to the librarian.  Lost cards have to be replaced at once by filing an affidavit of loss and submission of 1×1 ID    picture. The library card is validated and returned to the student upon enrollment.

REFERENCE SERVICES

Reference service is concerned with assistance to users in the most expeditious and efficient retrieval of information. Users are directly aided in securing information and in using the various types of resources. Researchers who are doing intensive studies, like preparing a thesis and/or research papers, are provided with reference interview to help them find the appropriate literature for the studies.

To facilitate easier information retrieval, the library observes the following routines:

  1. Library materials are shelved based on call number
  2. Color codes serve as guide for proper placement of books

Pink– Circulation Area

Green– Reserve Area

Orange– Room Use Only

  1. Shelf-reading is done every afternoon by the student assistants
