General Policies

  • To avail of the college library services and facilities, one should have a library card validated by the librarian every semester.
  • A library card is issued to all students upon presentation of their Registration Form (RF) and two (2) pieces of identical 1×1 ID picture.  The card is valid while the student is enrolled at the WVSU College of Medicine.
  • Lost library card can be replaced upon submission of a duly notarized Affidavit of Loss and 1x 1 ID picture.
  • No library material can be taken out for home use or for photocopying purposes unless it is properly checked-out at the charging desk.
  • The borrower is held responsible for any loss or damage (accidental or intentional) of any library material borrowed.
  • Lost book/periodical/journal/research paper must be reported immediately to the librarian and must be replaced with the same title of the material or paid according to the value determined by the librarian.
  • Photocopying of unpublished research papers is not allowed.
  • Students are required to surrender their library card at the end of the academic year before their clearances are signed. It will be validated and claimed at the library upon enrolment on the next term.
  • Clients other than the faculty, non-medical staff and students of the College of Medicine can avail of the library services upon presentation of a valid library ID or identification card from the office or institution where they are employed or enrolled. Visiting users are required to present a referral letter from the librarian or head of the institution where they are currently enrolled or connected.
  • All books in the circulation and reserve section are displayed on open shelves following the Dewey Decimal Classification System. Library users can gain access to these books directly or through the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) and card catalog.
  • During summer break, students of the College may use the library facilities for academic purposes; however, library materials are for room use only. Students must present their University ID to gain access to the library.
  • Silence must be observed all the time inside the library.
  • Eating, drinking, and sleeping are prohibited inside the library.
  • Use of electrical supply of the library for personal use such as cellular/mobile phones and other gadgets are not allowed.
  • Personal belongings should not be left unattended inside the library. The WVSU-COM library will not be responsible for any lost personal properties.
