Statement from the WVSU College of Medicine

Concerning the announcement from the Commission on Higher Education authorizing medical schools “to admit students who have not taken the NMAT for AY 2020-2021,” subject to their regular admission requirements, the West Visayas State University College of Medicine wishes to inform all interested parties that it will no longer accept new applicants for its Doctor of Medicine program. The College has long closed its application period and it is now about to end its vetting process for applicants who have met minimum requirements. As it is, the number of applicants has far exceeded its expectations, despite it having imposed a higher cut off NMAT score (from 60 to 70 percentile), and this year’s pool of applicants is deemed rich enough for the College to choose a good cohort of incoming freshman medical students whose qualities equal those of their counterparts in the previous years.
